There’s a new link under the 2knuckleheads web sites heading in the right column of this blog. I took advantage of the third party calling feature from Vonage, and wrote a script that allows registered users of this blog to call us for free. Click on the Phone a Knucklehead link, and fill out the form. If you entered the correct information, the page should display something like, “Calling (the number you entered), please answer the phone when it rings.” If there’s a problem, the page should display the error.
It’s a pretty neat thing. Vonage will setup the call. It rings our phone, and our caller ID will display the phone number you entered. If we answer it (of course we will), we won’t hear anything while it sets up the call to you. Then, we should hear your phone ring, followed by you answering the phone. If you have Vonage and want to do this yourself, go to this site and see some examples. I modified the PHP script to include the form and to query the blog database to verify that you are a registered user. I don’t want just anyone to use this!
