Tivo has finally released their new HD DVR. I still have the original chugging along in my family room. The new Tivo can record 2 HD shows at the same time, and you can watch a recorded show while you’re at it. It’s also the only DVR that is THX certified. It’s a bit pricey, but it’s probably the best HD DVR out there. You’ll need to get a cable card or two if you want to record two shows simultaneously. Cox charges $30 to install the card and $12 per month per card.
I’ll have to give it some thought, but I’m glad I have the option. Tivo is going to provide the software for the Cox DVRs (see story), so I may wait for that.
