Last Monday we got to go see a dress rehearsal of Bette Midler’s show at Caesars. I saw her Divine Miss M on HBO a long time ago and loved her, so I was excited to see the show. I don’t own any of her songs, but I do appreciate a showman or woman and she definitely is one.
I was wondering what this show would be like because she is going to be doing it 4 times a week, and when I saw the stage, I was really wondering. That thing is huge and she’s no youngster! Well, I was not disappointed. She gave it everything she had. She sang, and told jokes and did big dance production numbers. She and the cast did use scooters for one number and she was sitting on a couch for another, but it was a lot like the Divine Miss M show for energy, fun and entertainment. I am so glad that we got to go see her show.
Still, it was odd that she didn’t sing anything from her Broadway hit, Rochelle, Rochelle. “It’s been a long journey from Milan to Minsk, Rochelle, Rochelle.” I was hoping that would be the encore.
