Whole 30 One Week to Go

I’ve got 4 days to go on my Whole 30 challenge and I’m wondering what’s next. I’m ambivalent about the end because I’m looking forward to having some of the things that I couldn’t over the past month, such as a margarita. On the other hand, I know that I need to eat this way the rest of my life. Letting things back into my diet on a special basis can quickly lead me back to old habits. That’s going to be the tough part, and what’s been the tough part in getting healthy.

What I’ve learned so far:

  • What I thought was “once in awhile”, or “a little bit”, were neither.
  • I’ve learned that it’s a lot easier to be compliant than it is to balance eating what’s good for me with what isn’t good for me.
  • The sugar cravings are less frequent, but still come if I don’t eat promptly
  • I really don’t miss dairy or grains
  • I’ve noticed the U.S. really favors sandwiches for lunch.
  • I have a long way to go before I get healthy, and I’ve just started.
  • It’s worth the effort.
