Living with 6 cats is very interesting. They chase each other non-stop during their waking hours. They attack my feet when I’m sleeping. They get into everything. They prefer to drink from our water glasses and aren’t afraid to knock them over to get to the water. Yes, they have a couple of water bowls, but those are last choice ranking after our water glasses and the toilet. I’m not sure, but I think Clarence has learned how to get water out of the water cistern. I’ve seen him bat it twice and get water. I think raccoons and monkeys would be no worse to live with if they used a litter box or the toilet.

I’ve been watching the Rachel Maddow show. I really enjoy it, but am watching to see how it goes now the election is over. I like that she digs into subjects deeper than most folks on TV, and I like that she works hard and is very smart. She is definitely not your average anchor.

To continue this random thread, I read an interesting article on how our current economy parallels that of that of 1873. There are some very close comparisons here, not the least of which is both started with mortgage crises.

Well, we had to say good-bye to 3 kittens this week. They left for their new homes and while we are very happy that they have good homes to go to, we miss them. They would climb up in the bed each morning and attack the bedspread. It was a fun way to wake up each morning. They also like to sit in one of our hockey helmets.

That was our job though; get them ready to move onto their new homes and families. We have homes for 6 and need to find homes for 5 more.

We put the Soft Paws on the two kittens that left yesterday. You can see them on the kittens in the picture above. They look like nail polish and come in lots of different colors.

They were really easy to put on. We did it when the kittens started to nap, and they barely noticed. They did notice them when they woke up but didn’t spend too much time or effort trying to get them off. They played with their sisters and brothers and didn’t miss a beat there either.

If you or anyone you know is considering “de-clawing” a cat, please point them to the Soft Paws website. They protect people and things from cat claws, and they protect the cat from having it’s paws cut off at the first knuckle.

We took in a couple of young cats that had been abandoned by their owners. We were pricing the cost of getting them spayed when they got pregnant. A couple of months later and we now have 11 – yes eleven – kittens. We’ve been trying to line up homes for them and one of the guys I work with is getting 2 for his kids. He needed pictures of them to put in their Easter baskets and I thought it might be fun to throw together a short movie. I did, and here it is.

The kittens in this movie are about 2.5 weeks old when I filmed them. The second batch is 9 days younger than the first. We’ve lined up homes for 6 kittens and are desperately trying to get homes for the other 5. I’ll make a movie of those very soon. They’re too young to fiddle with now and their mom gets mad at me when I handle them right now.
